​Curriculum Goals & Great Start Readiness Program


Goals for our program include development in the following areas:

  • Social-Emotional

Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP):

The Lenawee County Great Start Readiness Program provides high quality preschool for 4-year-old children (not yet 5 years old by September 1) who meet qualifying factors that may put them at risk for low educational attainment in kindergarten and beyond. The program is funded by the Michigan Department of Education and overseen by the Lenawee Intermediate School District. To strengthen learning at home and positive child outcomes, programs must provide for active and continuous involvement of parents in the learning process.

​Activities & Programing

Our children enjoy our computer area, pretend play, block area, sensory table, puzzles, manipulatives, art, listening center, reading area, play-dough table, writing center, and more! We start each day with circle time where the children learn the calendar, weather, sing songs, pick daily jobs, and so much more. Our children also learn many words in Spanish.

Meals: Children receive a nutritious meal daily. They are encouraged to try new foods and learn new skills such as pouring, serving themselves, and table manners.

Literacy Coaches: Our specially trained, volunteer literacy coaches spend approximately one hour per week working with 1 to 2 four-year-old students on an individual basis. Coaches support the literacy program by reading to the children and by helping them learn to write their name, identify letter sounds, and rhyming. Children meet with the same coach each week.

Special Guests & Field Trips: Occasionally throughout the year our children have opportunities to welcome special guests to their classroom or to travel to exciting places in the Adrian community.

Class Times​

 

All classes meet Tues-Thurs for the 3 yr old program and Mon-Thurs for the GSRP program during the school year September through May.

3-year-old Morning Program: 9:30a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (doors open at 9:25 a.m.)

4-year-old All Day Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP): 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (doors open at 7:55 a.m.)

Transportation is not provided by the school and it is imperative that all children are brought to school on time and picked up on time every day.
